after having countless bikes stolen in nyc a reverse sting operation was set. the neistat brothers steal their own bicycles in daylight in downtown nyc. begging the attention of the police but never getting it.

Problem is most people aren’t going to try and stop a thief… esp one carrying a sharp, heavy tool. Second, you’re so bold about it, they probably figure you’re trying to get at your own bike because you forgot the key.

Some asshole who deserves to eat lead snacks stole my son’s Chritsmas present from his grandmother: a $250 Mongoose BMX bike. The damn thing wasn’t even that high speed, just a cool little bike. It’s so funny, the fucking cops are up your ass if you do 10 over the speed lmit, have a loud party or just driving while black…but some asshole can walk up in my yard and steal shit. Thank goodness I live in Texas. I pity the fool who tries to steal this new one.

@tribunalfunk: So true. I’ve heard the COPS say numerous times that they don’t have the resources to look into theft cases. They do the easy jobs though sitting on the side of a highway waiting for speeders. Best part is they get paid.
the only way you will get caught is if the ACTUAL owner turned up while stealing it, since this guy IS the owner, that aint gonna happen
