A thorough discussion for sure. Only missed one point IMHO. Proactive use of a free internet based BikeRegistry service and appropriate TAGGING of the bike back to the registry. This is the concept now used by law enforcement in Tel Aviv, Israel. The Israelis reviewed ALL Options before making their decision....

Hi Pocky,
Yep it is a good idea. As a cyclist its always worrying where you leave your bike. I have 3 bikes. Each for its purpose and locale. Annoying is the weight of protection you need to carry and even then... there are some bas tards. Still, a good idea.

One thing I noticed is with one of your product advantages where you say that the key stays in while the deterrent is not being used, therefore you don't have to fumble for keys. The problem here is that it contradicts with another selling point. When you mentioned the storage ability of swinging the lock up to lock it to the frame, wouldn't this allow the key to be removed since it would now be in the 'locked' position?

Another option, high pressure acid / some super foul smelling and sticky stuff that also permeates through clothing (some smells/chemicals do this very quickly) so even if the thief replace clothes it won't help.

best lock is a hollow u-lock with a high tension wire inside, once cut, the tension is released and a pack of C4 explosive goes off. then a big sticker on there to say that there's a bomb inside.

i kinda like the idea. however, if there is a uv stain on the body, will users defect it everytime they use it?? how durable is it again? can it be cut off?
