  • smelliac says:

if the valve is leaking then there’s no point patching the tube. broken valves can’t be fixed, they’re too delicate a mechanism. best thing to do is just get a new tube. they’re usually pretty cheap.

thanks for this. I was going to get a shop to do it, there is one just over the wall, literally, but I want to do it myself.

  • fintanthedemon says:

two plastic knifes would work, be carefull not to damage the inner tube or tyre lining though.

  • Meneks says:

Nah tire levers make it easier i pretty much use my hand and the back of a pen(the dull side) so i wont puncture a new hole into the innertube.

for people who dont have tyre leavers, use a spoon. the flat end of one, not the curved bit.

  • Remui says:

All these videos rely on a bowl, or even a bucket at times, of water.
You’ll never be able to fix a tyre on the road like this.
Most of the time, that is if a hole is big enough to make your tyre flat, there is a better way: pump some air into your tyre, like usual and then pull the whole tyre through your hands – next to your ear! You’ll chase the hole down that way much more easily.
And you maybe should check the part of the tyre for objects that is on the *ground* and not on the top.

  • sotilson says:

Always ensure an adjustable wrench is tightened and well seated before applying force to it, the method shown could round the nuts if the wheel was fastened correctly. Ride hard, don’t round nuts!
