With fancy swiss cutters, 6 seconds. Bolt cutters a little longer. Get a kryptonite u lock.

  • Bob A says:

They are pretty much worthless and can be cut in a few seconds.

  • Galacticat says:

OMG dude, no! Kryptonites are the absolute bestest lock ever but you can find VERY similar locks that will be almost as disheartening to would-be thieves as a brand-name Kryptonite U-Lock. Ask at a cycling store!

I see people use the type pictured only on bikes that are crappy to begin with or just to make stealing the wheels harder. I don’t spiff my bike up with fancy stuff and I use a sturdy lock, so I get passed over… so far.

    Cable locks bad!

im my personal experience both those lock are useless i have cut through locks just like those when i lost my keys which is why i prefer combo like those other people said go with the kryptonite u lock ive only done this once but i stole a bike and it was a kryptonite u-lock on it it took me about 3 mins to cut and if it weren’t raining extremely hard that day and without my friend as a look out we would have been caught cuz we did it on a college campus its a great lock get it

About half a second with 3′ bolt cutters.

Look on Youtube and type in bike thief. Guy got pissed off about having his bike stolen so he made a vid on how easy it is to steal one.
