If I buy one of those Bell U shaped bicycle locks (comes with key) and someone else buys the same product, can that person open my lock with the key he got from his package?
Verrrry small chance of that happening…..almost nil. However, all lock manufacturers use the same key blanks for the particular lock they’re selling and may have anywhere from 10 to 10,000 different key patterns. They mix them up when distributing so even in a fresh box of new locks you’re not likely to find the same key for two different packages.
That said, at one time GM had 10 key patterns for a particular Buick model. My girlfriend’s mom got in her car, prepared to pull out of the parking spot, and suddenly realized it wasn’t HER car! lol. Same white paint, same car, but it was someone else’s and they had the same key pattern. It was at her work and she found the other lady and they became pretty good friends. Weird experience, but it just goes to show you what I was saying about key patterns. With your bike lock you shouldn’t have to worry about it. )
Well common sense really. If all keys were the same, it would be pointless buying a lock and bike crimes would just be unbelievably high!
In other words, of course all the keys are different. Although for a safer bike, get a combination lock with a memorale code. Or even a D lock.
But if you stick with the U bike locks, all keys are different.
I'm here to present you with some of the BEST bike locks on the market so that you can choose the one that's right for you! I know first hand what it's like to get your bike stolen!'
Some of the things I read on here are too incredible to be believed.
